Danielson Framework Domains — Instruction 

“The components of Domain 3: Learning Experiences describe the engagement of students in learning experiences and reflect the primary mission of schools: enhancing student learning and growth. These components are unified through a vision of students developing complex understanding, achieving goals, cultivating purpose, and participating in a community of learners (The Danielson Group, 2022).” 

Domain 3 Description: This domain focuses on how we as teachers deliver content and actively engage students during lessons. 

Domain 3 Goal: This domain promotes deeper understanding and student-centered learning.

Domain 3 Examples (click link): 

  • Facilitation or engagement strategies
    • Technology integration examples (e.g., slides, apps used, smartboard) 
    • Differentiated instructional strategies 
    • Gamification
    • Anchor charts or other resources/strategies
    • Project-based learning examples
Other Examples Include:
  • Student work with written feedback 
  • Reflecting on lessons or self-assessments 
  • Interactive notebooks or journals 
  • Formative or summative assessment results/analysis to inform instruction
  • Questioning strategies or discussion prompts
